Indian Society
for Acute Medicine
Acute Medicine is a specialty within general medicine to assess, investigate, diagnose and manage the care of patients with conditions that have developed quickly, exhibit severe symptoms and may be life-threatening. ISAM is the first Indian organization dedicated to developing this novel branch in the country.
WHY JOIN ISAM?
India, with its vast differences in healthcare delivery, has a myriad of deficits when it comes to the management of acute illnesses in admitted patients. These gaps mandate the need for Acute Medical Units (AMU) that enable the timely identification and urgent intervention required for inpatients who deteriorate quickly or have the potential for deterioration.
Acute Medicine physicians capable of setting up and managing an AMU are the answer to these gaps in India.
